See How Battlefield Acupuncture Is Helping Military Personnel Overcome Pain

In this video, see how acupuncture is being used to help military personnel deal with chronic pain issues. This is from the 5th annual “Pain Care Skill Training” at the Walter Reed National Military Medical Center. This training includes hands on demonstrations, lectures, and discussions of best practices for managing pain on the battlefield.

Soldiers who are injured during combat operations can experience ongoing pain for an extended time after their initial wounds have healed. Chronic pain can also be caused by non-injuries, such as joint and muscle pain that develops from the physical demands of daily service. Simply put, military service is physically demanding, and over time even the most youthful bodies can break down and experience pain from repetitive motion and constant physical activity.

One goal of pain management for military personnel is to achieve success without negatively impacting the soldiers’ ability to carry out their daily duties. This is one reason that “battlefield acupuncture” has become more popular as a pain relief treatment in recent times. In many cases, using acupuncture (ear acupuncture as you will see in this particular video) brings relief without the need for prescription painkillers. Win-win for all.
